Cool Stuff
I've posted here some goodies found over time. Unless I've forgotten to re-write this paragraph to change the rules, everything listed below is free. The variety might differ as time goes on, so who knows what you'll find.
Anyway, I've got to work on other things, so peace out!
Internet Archive
The IA is, of course, an archive, but not just any. Its an archive of the internet: all the way back to 1996! Using the site's "Wayback Machine", you can enter in a fairly popular website and get a list of specially backed up pages, sorted into years. You probably won't find your own personal website, but the opportunity is there anyway!
I've set this website as my home page. Google is the perfect search engine! You probably use Yahoo! or Lycos, and a lot of people do, but they just don't compare. Let me list just some of the features of Google for you:
- Speed
- Price search
- Image search
- Auto-generated news section compiled from other news websites
- PDA accessible
- Multi-lingual + text translator
- Can convert PowerPoint and Acrobat documents to HTML!
- New technologies being tested all the time
Decide for yourself. This wonderful tool will cost you nothing.
Text-Image.com
I think I found out about this one from Chris Pirillo on Call For Help. This website has a service that lets you convert any kind of image into text: words, patterns, or just question marks if you want! I don't know how to better explain it, but this idea rocks! If you still don't get what I'm talking about, open up the page and look at their example on the front page. You'll see!
AnyWho
Rule numero uno, kiddies: the phone is for chicks and people who like to use the phone! But if you have to use it and don't have a phone book, check out this service. AnyWho is simply an online phone book provided by the folks at AT&T. All you do is enter in the necessary info for this soon-to-be-called person and search for their name. Pretty easy!
